The n5i project was created in 2025 by Aaron Dewes. It is a continuation of the previous Nirvati open source project, which was started in 2023. While Nirvati now focuses on offering a ready-to-use distribution with some commercial offerings to extend it, n5i is focused on providing a FOSS server management solution that stays independent of any vendor.

We're always looking for contributors to help ensure n5i indeed stays completely vendor-neutral. More information on contributing will be added here soon, but you can always check out our code and contribute to it on GitLab.
